Mission Statement

Recognizing that "community" is a combination of people, place, history, culture, and relationships, The Center is dedicated to working with the citizens of Newton County to determine and preserve what is essential to our communities.

The Center supports community preservation through collaborative planning and design and provides an environment for learning and sharing creative solutions to accommodate growth.

Statement of Purpose

The U.S. Census indicated, based on 2005 estimates, that Newton County is the 3rd fastest growing county in Georgia and the 8th fastest growing county in the United States.  Our county's growth is directly related to that of the Metro Atlanta area, which increased by 1.1 million new residents since 1990 and is expected to increase by another million by 2010.

Collaborative approaches to planning will help to ensure that we maintain a sense of place in our Newton communities while gracefully accommodating inevitable growth.
